Border

High-performance world border engine with custom animated shader textures, integrated HTTP resource pack delivery, collision physics, and zero tick loss.

Overview

Border is an advanced, production-grade world border management engine developed for high-traffic Minecraft networks, SMP events, and UHC tournaments running on Paper 1.20+.

Unlike traditional world border solutions, Border features custom shader textures (such as animated honeycomb wave barriers), smooth shrinking/expanding animations, and an integrated lightweight HTTP server that automatically delivers the client resource pack without external hosting requirements.

Equipped with realistic boundary collision physics (velocity pushback, sound cues, particle bursts, and strict safe-zone enforcement), universal color format support (Hex, Adventure MiniMessage, RGB, Legacy), and comprehensive PlaceholderAPI hooks, Border delivers complete control with zero tick-rate loss.

Features

Custom Shader Textures – render animated custom textures (like honeycomb shaders) or classic vanilla worldborder walls with smooth wave effects.

Effortless Border Control – dynamically create, shrink, expand, set radius, relocate coordinates, and toggle geometric shapes (circle & square) in real time.

Automatic Resource Pack Delivery – built-in lightweight HTTP server automatically transmits the plugin's texture pack to joining players without external CDNs.

Universal Color Engine – full support for Hex color codes (#0088FF), Adventure MiniMessage tags, RGB, and legacy formatting across standing, shrinking, and expanding states.

Realistic Boundary Physics – configurable pushback force, anti-exit barrier mechanics, knockback sounds, particle bursts, and actionbar alerts upon collision.

Dedicated Author Support – comprehensive, direct developer support via Discord for rapid troubleshooting, setup assistance, and continuous feature updates.

Commands

All commands feature smart tab-completion in console and in-game. Click any copy icon to quickly copy the command to your clipboard.

Command Description Permission
/border create <radius>
Creates a world border centered at the player's position with the specified radius. dominus.border.command.create
/border shrink <radius>
Smoothly shrinks the border to the target radius over a configured countdown. dominus.border.command.shrink
/border expand <radius>
Smoothly expands the border outwards to the target radius. dominus.border.command.expand
/border set <radius>
Instantly sets the border radius to the given value without transition delays. dominus.border.command.set
/border move <x> <z> <time>
Smoothly relocates the border center point to coordinates X/Z over the specified time without altering radius. dominus.border.command.move
/border type <circle|square>
Toggles the geometric border shape between circular and square boundaries. dominus.border.command.type
/border texture <vanilla|custom>
Switches between standard vanilla worldborder texture and custom shader pack texture. dominus.border.command.texture
/border tp
Teleports the executing player directly to the exact center coordinates of the active border. dominus.border.command.tp
/border clear
Completely removes and deactivates the currently active world border from the world. dominus.border.command.clear
/border info
Displays active border metrics, current radius, operational status, and command shortcuts. dominus.border.command.info
/border pack
Broadcasts and sends the custom resource pack prompt to every player currently on the server. dominus.border.command.pack
/border reload
Reloads configuration files (config.yml, messages.yml) without restarting the server. dominus.border.command.reload

PlaceholderAPI (PAPI)

Seamlessly display real-time border metrics on your scoreboard, tab list, actionbar, or bossbar using standard PlaceholderAPI identifiers.

Placeholder Description Example Output Copy
%border_radius% Current active border radius in blocks. 250.0
%border_status% General operational state of the world border. Idle / Shrinking / Expanding
%border_type% Active geometric shape of the border. Circle / Square
%border_texture% Active visual style of the border wall. Custom / Vanilla
%border_shrink_time% Remaining time until the current shrink animation completes. 01:45
%border_shrink_radius% Target radius for the current shrink operation. 100
%border_shrink_status% State indicator specifically for shrinking actions. active / idle
%border_expand_time% Remaining time until the current expand operation completes. 02:30
%border_expand_radius% Target radius for the current expand operation. 500
%border_expand_status% State indicator specifically for expanding actions. active / idle

Configuration

Border gives you full customization through three primary files in the plugin directory:

config.yml

Core settings: state colors (Hex/RGB), default radius & geometry, collision knockback physics, and built-in HTTP server.

messages.yml

All actionbar alerts, notifications, and prompts with full Adventure MiniMessage, Hex, and RGB color support.

pack.zip

Built-in resource pack containing custom shaders, textures, and assets automatically streamed to joining players.

Universal Color & Text Formatting
Border natively supports Hex codes (e.g. #0088FF), Adventure MiniMessage tags (e.g. <gradient:#ff3849:#fb7185>, ), RGB, and classic Legacy formatting (&c, &l). You can freely combine them in both config.yml and messages.yml.

Built-in Resource Pack Daemon
When resource-pack.enabled is set to true, Border starts an internal micro-HTTP server on the specified host and port (default: 25585). Ensure this port is accessible or forwarded on your server hosting to allow external players to automatically download the shader textures.
